  1. Right Click to save the outline below to your hard drive. Open it in Animation Shop and export it to Paint Shop Pro.

  2. Magnify to 800%. Set your Paint Brush settings to: Square, Size 1, Hardness, Density, Thickness and Opacity all at 100, and Step at 25; and draw over the outline as follows: Candy Cane - Color #B6B6B6, Red Stripes - Color #811E1E. Your image should now look like this:

  3. Use the Magic Wand to select inside every other section of the candy cane and Flood Fill with Color #FCFCFC - Leave Selected - Float Selection and apply following cutout: Shadow Color = #B6B6B6, Vertical and Horizontal = 0, Opacity = 100, Blur = 2. Your image should now look like this:

  4. Use the Magic Wand to select inside every other section of the candy cane and Flood Fill with Color #EB8A8A - Leave Selected - Float Selection and apply following cutout: Shadow Color = #811E1E, Vertical and Horizontal = 0, Opacity = 100, Blur = 2. Your image should now look like this:

  5. Now it is time to make the bow. Open a new image 100 x 100 pixels. Using Color #2D5428 draw the outline shown below:


    Any line over 2 pixels in length has been labeled accordingly.

  6. Layers - Duplicate and Image - Mirror - Using the Mover Tool place the mirrored image into place. Layers - Merge - Merge Visible as shown below:

  7. Use the Magic Wand to select inside every section of the bow and Flood Fill with Color #E7FC074. Select Both Upper Outer Sides of the Ribbon - Float Selection and apply following cutout: Shadow Color = #2D5428, Vertical and Horizontal = 0, Opacity = 100, Blur = 4. Select Both Lower Ends of the Ribbon - Float Selection and apply following cutout: Shadow Color = #2D5428, Vertical and Horizontal = 0, Opacity = 100, Blur = 4. Select the Center of the Ribbon - Float Selection and apply following cutout: Shadow Color = #2D5428, Vertical and Horizontal = 0, Opacity = 100, Blur = 4. Select Both Upper Inner Sides of the Ribbon - Adjust - Brightness & Contrast with these settings: Brightness = (minus) 25 and Contrast = 0. Repeat one more time with same settings. Your image should now look like this:


  8. Click on the Bow Image - Edit - Copy. Click on the Candy Cane Image - Edit Paste as New Layer. Use the Mover Tool to place the Bow on the Candy Cane where you want it. Layers - Merge - Merge Visible. Reduce magnification back to original size of 100% and your finished image should now look like this:
