  1. Right Click to save the color guide below to your hard drive.

  2. New Image - Transparent - 100 x 100 pixels - Magnify to 800%.

  3. Set your Paint Brush settings to: Square, Size 1, Hardness, Density, Thickness and Opacity all at 100, and Step at 25.

  4. Using the guide below draw the outline as follows: Stem - Color #1, Apple - Color #3.


    Any line over 2 pixels in length has been labeled accordingly.

  5. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Stem and Flood Fill with Color #2.

  6. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Apple and Flood Fill with Color #4. Your image should now look like this:

  7. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Stem - Float Selection - Apply Cutout - Settings: V=0, H=2, Opacity 100%, Blur 2, Color #1.

  8. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Apple - Float Selection - Apply Cutout - Settings: V=4, H=6, Opacity 100%, Blur 10, Color #3. Your image should now look like this:

  9. Add a New Layer - Using Color #5, apply shading to the Apple as shown below, and apply a Gausian Blur with a setting of 3:

  10. Add a New Layer - Using Color #6, apply shading to the Apple as shown below, and apply a Gausian Blur with a setting of 3:

  11. Add a New Layer - Using Color #7, apply shading to the Stem as shown below:

  12. Merge Layers Visible - Reduce magnification back to original size of 100% - Export Image as a Tube.

  13. For the finished image below, I used my tube at 80% scale:
