  1. Right Click to save the color guide below to your hard drive.

  2. New Image - Transparent - 100 x 100 pixels - Magnify to 800%. Set your Paint Brush settings to: Square, Size 1, Hardness, Density, Thickness and Opacity all at 100, and Step at 25; and using the guide below draw the outline as follows: Candle - Color #3, Flame - Color #1, Wick - Color #5.


    Any line over 2 pixels in length has been labeled accordingly.

  3. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the three Candle Parts and Flood Fill with Color #4. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Flame and Flood Fill with Color #2. Your image should now look like this:

  4. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Flame - Float Selection - Apply Cutout - Settings: V&H=0, Opacity 100%, Blur 5, Color #7. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Outer Upper Part of the Candle Only (Do not select the inner part where the wick is.) - Float Selection - Apply Cutout - Settings: V&H=0, Opacity 100%, Blur 6, Color #3. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Lower Candle - Float Selection - Apply Cutout - Settings: V&H=0, Opacity 100%, Blur 18, Color #3. Use the Magic Wand to select inside the Inner Upper Part of the Candle (Where the wick lies.) - Adjust - Add Noise - Uniform 15% - Leave Selected - Adjust - Brightness & Contrast - Settings: Brightness 23%, Contrast 0% - Deselect. Your image should now look like this:

  5. Apply shading to your Flame using Color #6 as shown below:

  6. Optional: If you would like to decorate your candle with holly, go to my Holly Tutorial and tube the finished image. Apply a new layer to your candle and apply the Holly tube at 45% arranging it as shown.

    Reduce magnification back to original size of 100% and your finished image should now look like this:
